How can such a vibrant light that shone so brightly, not be seen anymore. All my life I have known you and you by far have been one of my most treasured people. You were like a Mother, a best friend someone I just knew, and you knew me. You were inspirational to me, in the face of adversity you taught tenacity. I loved your absolute love for life with all it's pain and pleasures, you never crumpled for long. Your sense of humour cracked me up, still does. I loved your theatrical nature, kept us so entertained. Everything about you was entertaining, being in your company was so uplifting, inspiring, energising. I loved your depth and compassion. Your deeper side I cherished, we shared so much, strange how our lives became so intertwined, such a special friendship spanning 57 years. I will so, so miss you Shirley, goodbye for now.

I will always remember ‘Great' Shirley for her bright nature and spontaneous singing, dancing and occasionally even yodelling. Such an amazing woman; a very sad loss for everyone who knew her. Much love to all the family, I wish I could be there on Thursday with you all.

Dear Shirley, we know you are at peace but that does not make it any easier to accept. Christmases and the burst of song and dance are going to be missed. You were a special part of our family. Much love.
