I want to express my sincere condolences to the family and friends. I was remembering today a book "Rocco" that was pivotal in my childhood. Now almost 40 years old, I wanted to express my thanks to the author, only to find out about her passing. I hope it brings her family and friends some joy that Sherryl made an impact on so many lives, even in a small European country...

My heartfelt condolences to friends and family of Sherryl. Sherryl was such a good friend to my mum through church, a very long time ago when mum was new to Tauranga, and we grew up with her books. I tried to track her down a few years back to tell her that I named my son after one of her characters, but I had no success. Rest well Sherryl, I hope you and mum are having a good catch up. Xx

I dared to write to Sherryl as my favourite New Zealand author whose writing spoke to me and enriched my life. She wrote back. Although we never met. The correspondence was very precious. I´m so grateful for your life Sherryl, the gifts you have shared with the world and your kindness in writing back to a fan. May you enjoy the delights of the next dimension, resting in Christ´s love.

So sorry to hear my best school friend since we were 11yrs old, Sherryl, has gone to heaven.
My deepest sympathy to you Pamela and family and friends of Sherryl. I am very sad at present. We spent alot of our teenage yrs doing things together, until she shifted to Tauranga. But yearly, at Christmas, we exchange long letters and more recently visited her and kept in touch by phone or email. I am really going to miss her. She suffered alot over the years and is now at peace. Until we meet again friend.
Lots of love Savita.
