Dear Rachel and Richard, the passing of Sheila has brought back many memories and conversations with my mum Beth Winton, now 97. Sheila and John, Fiona and Ted Blundell and Joy Maud were all friends of my parents. They were all part of The National Council of Women. Strong caring women not to be messed with. As an adolescent I have clear memories of the joy and some of the journey as you each came on your differing pathways into Sheila and John’s arms and made a family. I was aware of their diligence, love and commitment to your growing and experience in the world. While Fiona was a major influence in my life Sheila was also. As an adolescent I remember you both as babies and small children and the joy you brought. What an amazing life Sheila lived, with her commitment to others and her laugh. I remember her laugh particularly. May you go well as you bring in a new year without your mum. Love from Jane Winton

She was an inspiration and support for the decade I worked for Northcare Trust. She recommended me to work with the deaf community that also had mental health challenges. I so appreciated her commitment to mental health and those of us that worked in that field she was a true friend.
