Sharon MAZEY Obituary

MAZEY, Sharon. Our darling Shaz passed away peacefully at home on the morning of December 29, 2012. The sun was coming up, she was surrounded by the loves of her life, and like everything we've done together as a family it was an incredibly precious moment. Beloved wife of Dave, mother to Ben and Scott, daughter to Dawne and George, sister to Helen, daughter in law to Liz and John and best friend to a cast of thousands; she will be dearly missed. In her own words 'she's not going anywhere'. A funeral will be held on Wednesday January 2 at 2.00pm at the Founders Chapel of Remembrance, 117 Rickit Street, Taupo. Dear Dave, Scotty, Ben, and family,
We are so very sorry to hear of Sharons passing and my mom Vera sends her condolences as well. Sharon was such an amazing woman - courageous, warm and fun-loving. She loved you 'Amazing Mazey men' so very very much and I am blessed to count her as one of my dearest friends. She will always be a part of me - a part that makes me smile...and then look for some mischief to get into.
I know that words are small comfort right now, but think of these as warm hugs from Canada.

Our thoughts and love are with you all,
Sonja, Norm, Ceilidh,Jenna and Vera

Such a shock to learn Sharon has left us physically but in our minds she is still with us. We are sorry we didn't have time to spend with you before she went. To Ben and Scott you couldn't have had a better friend and Mother. We will all miss her terribly but her fun and laughter will stay with us always.
Love to you all

Dave, Scott and Ben,

I was saddened to hear the news of Sharon's passing. She was an inspirational and vivacious woman who had some of the best stories and recipes ever.
I learnt the best potato recipe from her, which I served up just this Christmas Day with my roast turkey – (There are a lot of potato's here in Ireland!)

I remember the story she told of her skiing down south in miserable weather with Scott as a toddler on her back, over hearing other skiers saying “how bad she was to be skiing with Scott in such bad weather” then how she thought, how worse it would have been had they seen or known that Ben was in the front pack under her jacket. But one of the stories that mum told me just recently was of how she came home to what is now (The Smith's) and found you guys (Scott and Ben) on the roof of the house/garage whilst I was “babysitting” you two. I can't remember the incident as am sure I was on the roof with you both as well? Besides, wasn't that the best run up for the old tyre swing?

My thoughts and love are with you Dave, Scott and Ben.

Dear Dave, Ben & Scotty,

It was a privilege to share with you the service for Shaz yesterday. What a special gathering and send off for a woman loved and admired by so many people.
We were so lucky to have had Shaz in our lives, albiet too briefly, and she has left us all the better for knowing her.
Go gently in the days ahead and surround yourselves with the love of all of us who adored her.

Much love,
Wendy & Sue

We could not believe you were ill Sharon, even less that you had passed. Taken too soon, you were younger than us.
We grieve with you all, particularly Dave, Scott, Ben and Liz.
John and Sharon grew up as teenagers at the Broken River Ski Club, and Dave too when he came to Uni in ChCh.
Later Jen became flatmates with Sharon at Peterborough St & John with Dave (after he'd been taught how to ski!) at 452 Papanui Rd. We were old friends then. We cannot believe Sharon that you are not still out there somewhere.
Given that your memorial service should be a celebration of your life, we thought we would share a reminiscence or two.
Like when you two girls came round at night and ripped up our back lawn at 452 Pap with wheelies in your Dubber & Standard 10.
Or when Sharon was very polite about our (affordable) home brew and swore it was the best ever (better than nothing not drinking at all).
There was never any Sunday morning food in the Pap Rd fridge, only because Sharon had the foresight to hide the eggs and bacon after partying the night before.
No-one knew who apple pied the bed with ski's boots poles and other junk!!
Jen remembers Sharon's favourite dessert. Rice pudding with marshmallows.
And when our cat Procolles on a trip to the Vet had his white bits dyed with genetian violet. Guess who?
We fondly remember one epic ski holiday at Lake Hayes, organised by Murray Thurston, along with our Afghan Hound Ragi who trussed himself up with all the fishing gear in the basement. Dave and Sharon will never forget a trip back to ChCh sharing the back seat with that hound, particularly after a messy rear end performance at Geraldine.
We shared weddings within a year, and then Sharon & Dave saved up hard to go to Canada, only to return with Sharon's favourite Sunshine kiss!
And later when families arrived, Scott & Ben at Havelock and our Natasha in Nelson we shared some good times in the Sounds. The work launch was put to productive use; it was good to watch Dave working so diligently!
After that, living in different parts of NZ we drifted apart. John would catch up with Dave when he was in Wellington, and we would meet up with Sharon in Turangi when passing through, but not often enough!
Sadly missed Mrs Scab (don't even ask). Don't be a stranger Dave, Scott and Ben.

You, Sharon Mazey, were a unique, beautiful, strong,
loving, kind and special woman. Your huge heart and
endless love for your 'boys'
and your family and friends
was aMAZing!!! I remember so
many special times shared with
you and Dave and the boys -
for the past 33 years your
friendship has lived in my
heart. I wish I could be home
to share those special times
and stories and celebrate your
fabulous life .... but, I sit in
Canada unable to reach out
and hug your boys and it is
hard! Your spirit isn't going
anywhere Mrs Mazey .... it
surrounds all of us with love, it
reminds us to live life to the
fullest and to love each other
as you did. I am sad I will not
hug you, see your big smile,
see the freckles on your nose
and the mischievious twinkle in
your eyes, but I do carry you in
my heart. Know that you are
loved, your boys are loved and
that now in your peace you
can soar and be free. Rest
easy Mrs Mazey. I love you.
Mazey, Scott and Ben know
always too - I love you. .......
hugs OLDBURY :) xxxx
