MATTHEWS, Samuel Bruce (Bruce). Reg No. 203161 MBE ED Major (Rtd) 3rd Auckland Regt. (Cro) 3 RAR Korea, 3 RNZIR. At Raeburn Rest Home & Hospital, Cambridge on 14th August 2016 aged 86 years. Loved husband of Annette, loved and respected father and father in law of Lizz & Dean Clarke and loved granddad of Whitney & David Schneider, Zac, Joshua & Rachel Clarke. A service will be held at St. Andrews Anglican Church, Cambridge on Saturday 20th August 2016 at 1:30 p.m. Followed by a private cremation. The family extends it's deep appreciation and thank you to the staff at Raeburn Rest Home and Hospital who over 8 years have offered care and kindness to Bruce. A deeply respected friend since 1944. Served his country bravely in war in Korea (seriously wounded)and in peace in the Auckland Regiment,in the Matthews family tradition. An instinctive leader of men who will be well-remembered by hundreds.

MATTHEWS, Bruce. On August 14, 2016. Worshipped brother of Stewart, brother-in-law of Allison, much loved and respected uncle of Bronwyn, Ruth, Colleen and James and their families. Soldiered on to the very end. A truly great man and friend. An officer and a gentleman. Thanks Bru for all you have done to enrich our lives. God bless you.
