To Sally's family. I am writing a history of Scorpion Volleyball Club and reading through this page I remember the new middle player with the biggest block marked on the wall of the old OGHS gym. I smile as large as you thinking of our times playing volleyball together. A beautiful soul .

I was a colleague of Sally's at CVICU Auckland. I want to acknowledge Sally for who she was in the world of medicine. She was so kind and gentle and nothing was any trouble for her to consider or do. It extended to the Pacific Islands with a commitment to the people there. Sally was a team member who did volunteer work for those in need of heart surgery, and was an integral part of the team. This year we will return and it is our commitment to Sally to continue this work. Although she will be missed she will be remembered deeply in all of our hearts. I am sure that on behalf of the Friends of Fiji Heart mission, and others in the Pacific teams, rest in peace now Sally and know you are surrounded with love. Peta Millar,Staff Nurse.

Deeply sad and shocked to hear of Sally's passing. I have some great memories of Sally as a bright, talented and caring young woman at Balmacewen and OGHS. My thoughts are with the Barlow's at what must be an incredibly sad time.

During our school days at Balmac and OGHS, Sally was so lighthearted and fun to be around, as well as being impossibly bright and hard working. I was very sad to hear this news, and my thoughts are with her family.

Although so much time has passed since our OGHS days, I was still so saddened to hear recently that Sally Barlow was no longer with us all. I looked up to Sally at OG and saw her as a champion in all that she did, she certainly was a character and an incredibly likable person, with a distinct bounce in her stride which obviously took her many places (as read in the entries). Fond thoughts of you Sally, and my deepest sympathy goes out to your dear family. May you be at peace in knowing much love around you. Teresa, David, Lucca and Isla.

I first remember meeting Sally as a 15 year old when she would come up to Wanaka, beautiful and tall with an infectious smile that is such a common theme within this guest book.

Sal, you have been one amazing running partner and friend. I have only known you since January but you have made a huge impact in our life. You were so dedicated to everything you did and the determination and passion you brought to every training run made that 3 hour mark seem easy. I was so happy in your company and I will treasure the memories and fun times we had and will never forget your beautiful smile. Love and hugs go out to your family xx

Our deepest sympathy to John, Marilyn, Emily and family. I have just heard the news and cannot believe it. I have known Sally for as long as I can remember, since she was friends with my sister Mandy at Arthur Street school. Then throughout the years she has constantly popped in and out of my life - through volleyball, medical school, we even ended up on call together as anaesthetic registrars in Wellington. Probably the weirdest was randomly meeting in a small town on the Italian Cinque Terra. I am so sad that she won't be randomly appearing anymore with her smile and her outgoing attitude to life. We will miss you Sally.

Dear John and Marilyn, I met you only once, but really enjoyed your company on the Bullock Track out of Roxburgh. We soon learned we knew of each other through your Sally and my Rob. Sally and Rob have known each other from school days in Dunedin and although I saw Sally irregularly she was often mentioned by Kim and Rob, so she was special to us. Recently she stayed with friends in my home in Tauranga, and then we had a precious week with her at Lake Tahoe. I am so sorry for your unimaginable loss. Remember the smile and love.

My deepest sympathy John, Marilyn, Emily and family on your devastating loss.
I have nothing but brilliant memories of Sally from High School and our years of Volleyball. I was always so glad she was on my team, I would not have liked Sally as an opponent - she was formidable through the middle. I will always remember Sally for her smile, her sense of fun, her kindness and not forgetting her determination. She was and will always be inspiring. All my love, thoughts and prayers to you all.

So hard to write anything at this time as her funeral is going on in Wanaka. I feel a long way away in Melbourne & am thinking of you all constantly.
I too remember times with Sal over many years & continents since early high school (always losing to her in volleyball!!), medical school, partying with Rob in Auckland & celebrating his wedding with skiing in Tahoe and then more recently with her visiting me in Melbs with Lorna & watching the mighty All Blacks win in an outrageous cheerleaders outfit. Many happy memories.
My thoughts are with the family & all Sal's many friends all over the world. You will be missed terribly xkim

Sally, you were a young up and coming volleyballer when I first met you when we played for Scorpion Volleyball Club, Dunedin. You were such a talented player and amazingly fit. I knew when you were up at the net blocking not much would get through those long skinny arms. You were a sweet natured and fabulous person and dedicated to your university work, those books travelled all over the place with you. We had so many fun times and laughs throughout all those volleyball seasons we played, those days were the best days of my life and meeting people like you was the highlight. Rest in peace Sally, you will never be forgotten by your fellow team mates xoxo.
