I was privileged to have known and worked with Sally-Ann Disher back in my early years of AISHK (in Hong Kong) from 2003-2005. She was one of the kind teachers that helped welcome me as part of the school family, and I am forever grateful. Sally-Ann was truly lovely individual with a distinct charm that could never be replaced. My prayers and deepest condolences go to her family, friends and extended ones as part of 'AISHK' and beyond. Thank you Sally-Ann, we will truly miss you!

On joining the squash club in London, everyone I initially met kept saying I needed to meet Sally - and how absolutely lovely she was! Sally was indeed a beacon of light to everyone who knew her... I'll miss her both on and off the squash court. To her family, I hope you find some comfort in this tragic time and know she loved you all very much... I hope she's found her peace, and that you will all find yours in time.

Jude, myself and Sally in the Champagne region 2011. Cheers!!

To the Disher family,
I was a colleague, fellow Kiwi and friend of Sal's at ASL. I am still so deeply saddened by Sally passing and have thought about her every day. I wanted to let you know that she spoke about her family all the time. I knew all your names from all her wonderful stories that she told us. I loved the story about her Grandad that was not allowed to cycle into town and when he did he fell off his bike on the bridge and his watch fell through the crack. I find great solace that she is with him now, as he like you all were very precious to her. I will miss her crazy infectious giggle and stopping in the corridor for a quick chat but still talking 30 mins later. She was a top girl, one of a kind and I like many others have been blessed to know Sally.
My thoughts are with you all and I hope one day our paths will cross to remember your stunning girl.

To the Disher family - my condolences on the very sad passing of Sal. A true gem, I was fortunate to have coached Sal in HK as Captain of 2003 HK netball team that went to the world's in Jamaica. A feisty sportswoman I and her team could count on, yet also a woman who knew the meaning of laughter, friends, and joy! She will indeed be missed, but never forgotten by all of us that knew her. Ma te atua me te wahi ngaro tatou e tiaki e manaaki...rest easy Sal. Love Grace

I recall a cheeky little girl with a cute face covered in freckles. Growing up in Totara all those years ago, the baby of our neighbourhood kids. Lots of fun times had with all the kids in & out of each others houses. And we never lost the link, Sally. We were there with your Mum & Dad, & godparents, Laraine & Keith, to see you play for Hong Kong at the Netball World Cup in Jamaica in 2003. We were so proud of you, leading your team out at the opening ceremony. Not a dry eye amongst us all! So many lovely memories over the years, beautiful girl. With love, Gaylene & John xx

Miss Disher was my Year 5 teacher back in 2004 at AISHK.
She was a very good and caring teacher, telling me what is right and wrong. She was the kind of teacher that would make me look forward to school day after day. Giving me the energy.
She became a good friend of my Mother and I. I remember she would call me out during the school holidays, to have lunch and also help her out with things at school even the year after I left her class.
It's very sad to hear that she left us. Every now and then, I would reminisce with my mother the good times we had with her, and I wish I could share it with everyone.
Forever will the memories of her be in my heart.
With all my love,

We met Sally in Hong Kong and shared a mutual group of friends, this including playing indoor netball with her. Dear Sal,
I am so very sad that I could not make it today to say farewell, as your funeral started I was listening to Mya singing in her school choir "I have a dream" by Abba. As I was listening to the lyrics I was thinking how fitting it was that this was being sung just as your life celebration started "I believe in angels, something good in everything I see, I believe in angels, when I know the time is right for me I'll cross the stream, I have a dream". God Bless dear Sal, love trace aka canyons xxxxxxx

Miss Disher, I remember when I first walked into your classroom in year 5. A rowdy, rambunctious child, she was always there to pull me back and steady me as I went. Forever helping me in class and making sure I was actually doing my work, she became a great friend of my family. Coming on outings on our boat and out for dinners. I am sad to see her gone. She was and still remains to be a bright light in all of our lives. Love you Miss :)

To Sue and Trev, Paulette and Bryan, Kara, Tom and Abbey, and Oscar, my thoughts and deepest sympathy is with you all. Mrs. Disher, you tutored me when I was in 4th grade in ASL. I'm back home from my year long trip in London with my family. Ever since you taught me ways to do division in a fun way, I always wanted to go back and sit with you again. Its horrible that your gone. I'm moving on to 6th grade now. I was thinking of you a few days ago as my mom and I were chatting. I thought "Wouldn't it be cool if I could see her again?" Now, that won't happen. But I will always remember you. I'm only 11.

Caroline Dumbrell

May 31, 2012

Mrs. Disher, you tutored me in the summer. I really, really didn't like math. But after you taught me the ways to do division fun, I never wanted to leave that chair next to you. Your gone, and after I got the e mail, I started to cry. I'm so very, very sorry family, friends, me. I will remember those moments in your classroom.

I'm only 11 years of age. But I have many words to say.
Caroline, your kid friend.

Words cannot express the shock and sorrow that I feel knowing that Sally has passed away. Sally was a wonderful person, generous and honest of heart, enthusiastic about everything in her life yet grounded enough to appreciate what she had. She was passionate about travelling and experiencing the new and different things in life. Travelling energised her, and hearing about her trips motivated and inspired me, whether she was flying off to exotic places or walking the lanes of England. She loved her vocation and adored the children she taught. Farewell, you are already missed.
