Ruth D. Joyce, 96, formerly of Jeannette, died Wednesday, June 16, 2010, in Westmoreland Manor, Hempfield Township. She was born Jan. 22, 1914, in Jeannette, a daughter of the late Otto A. Drengwitz and Marie (Bauman) Drengwitz. She was the last surviving charter member of BPW, Past Matron of Order of Eastern Star Chapter 69, Past Royal Matron of Order of the Amaranth No. 25, and member of First Baptist Church and the Amoma Sunday School Class, all of Jeannette. Prior to retirement, she worked as a bookkeeper for Drengwitz Heating and Roofing. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James M. Joyce; a son, Richard Norman Joyce; a sister, Marie Coates; and two brothers, Judson and Edwin Drengwitz. She is survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Friends will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the MASON-GELDER FUNERAL HOME INC., 201 N. First St., Jeannette. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday in First Baptist Church, Jeannette, with Pastor Charles Bowser officiating. Interment will follow in Westmoreland County Memorial Park, Hempfield Township.
