Uncle Royce was a lovely man. To all that knew him. I was fortunate enough to play many games of golf with Royce & my father Joe. They are cherished memories.
At a very young age I would sit in Uncle Royce's office. Adorned with beautiful photos of his daughters. So proud of them all.
Royce, middle brother Michael, & my Dad. As they argued about how much money they thought a movie would make & find the appropriate times to release.
They had tea & coffee. I had a glass of milk & a biscuit. Watching the tennis match between the brothers argue until they settled on the right strategy for the particular movie.
Uncle Royce was the last surviving Moodabe brother (& the eldest).
It's a tough moment. As it marks the end of a very colourful era in NZ cinema history. And I feel his loss.
Occasionally I'd be drafted in to play tennis with Royce & Dad. But even in their 70's they were far better than me.
Rest in peace Uncle Royce.
The Royal Auckland & Grange Golf Club. Is flying its flag at half mast in honour of Royce. It also serves as a remembrance & celebration of Royce's life. Blessings

Royce was my boss for many years. When I first started I would be so scared of him. Over the years he mellowed (a bit). I found him tough but fair and I respected the hell out of him. Rest in peace Boss.

I am deeply saddened to hear of Royce's passing. He was a true icon of the NZ Cinema Industry for many years , and was instrumental in the launch of the first major multiplex chain in New Zealand , Village Force Cinemas , in the early 1990's. He was a true gentleman , and a fountain of knowledge to many. RIP Royce . Condolences to Royce's family. Pete & Louise Garner

Royce was as a leading figure in New Zealand's Cinema Industry he was a driving force behind Amalgamated Cinemas, Royce helped shape the way generations of kiwis experienced cinema
Under his leadership, Amalgamated Theatres became synonymous with quality entertainment bringing the joy of cinema to towns and cities across the country. His deep passion for film and his commitment to audiences ensured that the silver screen remained a place of wonder and connection for countless moviegoers.
Royce possessed great business acumen and leadership and a lifelong dedication to sharing stories through film. His legacy lives on in every kiwi who has ever taken a seat in a darkened theatre, waiting for the lights to dim and the screen to come alive.
I extend my deepest sympathy his family, friends, colleagues
RIP Tony Grant (Ex Cinema Manager)
