Rowena HENDERSON Obituary

HENDERSON, Rowena Mary (née Mitchell). Passed away at Kena Kena Rest Home, Paraparaumu, in the arms of her sister, on Thursday morning, June 1st 2023, aged 93. Formerly of Hadleigh Court, Paraparaumu. Born in Geraldine December 1st 1929, then lived in Timaru, Duvauchelle Bay Banks Peninsula, New Plymouth, Blenheim, Lower Hutt and finally Paraparaumu. Daughter of Leslie Thomas Henry Mitchell and Irene Matilda Neutze of Raukapuka, Geraldine. Loved wife and lifelong companion of the late Robin Henderson; mother and mother-in-law of Gary Henderson and Janet Thomson, Auckland; Philippa Henderson and John Batty, Rarotonga; Nan to Bosun Henderson Batty, Wellington; sister and sister-in-law to Jen Mitchell and John Craig, Wellington, and the late Clarence and Helen Mitchell, Auckland; sister-in-law to the late Del (Henderson) and Mick Buckley, Christchurch, and the late Harold and Alma Henderson, Nelson. Auntie to their children, including Julie Mitchell Ashley and John Ashley, Auckland; Paul and Karleena Mitchell, Melbourne; Lucy Mitchell Craig, Wellington; Elaine (Buckley) Rajna and Kevin Johnston, Christchurch, and the extended Henderson family originally from Nelson. Very special Auntie Ro Ro to Siobhan Mitchell Holohan and Paul Holohan, Wellington. A treasured friend to many. Thanks to Rowena's wonderful Hadleigh Court neighbours for all their care, and to the lovely staff of Kena Kena Rest Home for making her last few months so happy.
