Very sad to hear of Ross's passing. When he was with Radio Hauraki in 1969, he was my first boyfriend and I have alot of fond memories of our time together. My thoughts go out to his family. R.I.P.

So sad to hear that Ross Goodwin is no longer with us. Worked at 1ZM with Ross in the late 70's and enjoyed every minute spent with him. His zest for
life, his love of his family and his tremendous talent was a joy to behold. My love and thoughts to Denise and their family. Godspeed Ross - you will be missed.

I will remember Ross as a very caring husband to my sister Denise, and a very good cook and gardener. And yes, with a BIG voice! His HELLOW... would make you hold the phone at a distance! I remember once we went to"wait" for him while he made an advertisement over radio for whoever had hired him. He was through in "minutes!" Skilled! Apart from the little trips abroad, he loved Waiheke! In recent years it was hard to get him off the island!!
Ross, we will miss you! God bless you there! Dianne Bayley.

Well, what a day in New Zealand broadcast history.

One legend of our industry is laid to rest, Paul Holmes, go well my friend, and one very dear to me passes away, Ross Goodwin, Mr Radio.

Ross was a true friend, mentor and lunch partner for twenty years of my life. Ross was selfless, caring, generous of spirit a true professional and beyond all else a loving father to Melissa and Paige and husband to Denise.

Today I have felt a sense of grief beyond what i ever expected. It is only now that I realise I have lost a surrogate father, friend, supporter, life guide and someone without whom my personal and professional journey would never been as rich.

Rosco, I will miss you enormously my friend, much more than I thought, you have left a huge gap in my life as I am certain many others.

Go safe, relax and rest assured you have left an incredible legacy of love knowledge passion and rock n roll!

Denise, Melissa and Paige, I / we, the music family are here for you.

Love David xxx

Restaurants throughout Auckland will miss Ross, his rare eye fillet steak, chips, Chardonnay and of course an ashtray. Perhaps an annual Ross Goodwin lunch at Prego in his honour?

So sad to learn of Ross 'Rossco' Goodwin's passing! No longer will we be greeted by that rich deep gravely voice saying 'How are ya'as we walk into the room? It was a privilege and honour to work with you at Radio Hauraki and again at 89FM in 1989, to learn from and be mentored by you. I based all my subsequent programming and management roles on your example! My sincerest condolences to the family! RIP and smooth sailing this time!

My condolences to you Denise, Melissa and Page. You will not know me, but I knew Ross for a particular time, as I was at Radio Hauraki in 1967. He was one of the strong DJ characters. Ross took the time to meet me during one of my holidays from the UK to Auckland, at least over 15 years ago - he was still bubbly, enthusiastic along with that wonderful voice.

Had I known my own radio journey would take me through Mount Isa and Ipswich (as it did for Ross) I would've had more questions at the time of the interview back in 1986. Thanks for helping to get my foot in the door Ross. Great memories of Caltex House. What a terrific introduction to radio. Sad news.

Condolences to the family. Ross was one of the really good guys. Brilliant broadcaster and all round good person.

February 11, 2013

Ross's passing came as a great shock I thought he was one of those characters that no matter how he lived he was indestructible.
He had a great sense of humour and his voice was legendary it was beautiful to listen to.
Denise I am so saddened by your loss I just cannot imagine your grief but in a small way I feel it with you.
For people that were around at the beginning of Hauraki Ross the “Good Guy” was always a hero and seeing that Hauraki doco really brought back some great memories.
His life was so significant for allowing all of us to enjoy the music on radio that we have enjoyed and taken for granted over all these years.
Ross you will be sadly missed but never forgotten R I P.
