Dear Anne and Family - I was shocked and saddened to hear of the passing of your dear son Ross!
I didn't know him personally but remember him on his Master Chief programme especially, the time he waltzed you Anne around the kitchen and I thought what a lovely, caring, person he must be!
Although, we go back many years Anne I just wanted you to know I was thinking of you and your family at this very sad time!
God Bless and kind thoughts!

So shocked and sorry to hear of the passing of Ross. A funny man with a huge intellect and an obvious love of life and absurdity. The night he came for dinner was the funniest, loudest, booziest, latest night ever. Even having coffee with him was a hugely entertaining and informative experience. He was delighted when we discovered we have the same nickname - cj. Condolences to family for a generous spirit lost too soon.

I was manning a stand at the Britomart Market (Hakanoa) when I met Ross and thereafter a number of times. Each meeting he left me feeling it was my life that was interesting. A rare talent.

....and the Red Tomatoes did it - The amazing Ross in full swing - Ready Steady Cook London - an amazing day!

So sad for your loss of a great son, Anne and family. We have watched his progress from afar, newspaper clippings etc and this is a very sad blow in his prime of life. This takes us back to Playcentre days and renting your bach at Mahia. Our thoughts are with you at this sad time.

Dearest Ross - You lit up a room when you walked in; you sparkled your way through life and it has been such a pleasure to know you. It was an honour to share some of your last days with you and to be there when you said goodbye to this world. You kept your sense of humour to the end and there was love in your eyes as you left us. We hope your life in the next world is as exciting , dynamic and a whirlwind of laughter and fun - just how you'd like it to be!
I wonder if you know just how many people will miss you dear friend. We hope that your journey through the next life is as vibrant as this one has been. Goodbyes are temporary until we meet again, for friendship is eternal.
Our thoughts and prayer are with you, and for you and your family.
With love from Mark, Sue, Chris, Justin, Ivy, Lincoln and Boston xxx

I first met Ross when we spent three weeks filming three chefs in the Cape, in South Africa, (about 15 years ago ) one of my first ever TV food and travel shows, and what a ball we all had. The series was such a success we then went on to do a book together along with Aldo Zilli with all profits going to the South African Children's Red Cross Association.
Needless to say our friendship remained from that day on and over the years found ourselves working together on a variety of TV shows.
Ross was a very intelligent man with an amazing repertoire of jokes (both good and several a little less tasteful!).
The only person I know that could deliver nonstop back to back lines for three days solid, as I experienced on a wine tour of Portugal we did together (can you imagine ?!). He was a party animal, but behind all the humour and front he was a very sensitive and personable man who I was privilege to meet, work and spend many hours with.
Despite Ross moving back to NZ we still kept in touch and I enjoyed receiving his e-mails, needless to say perfectly compiled and lashings of Ross humour.

Ross I am still shocked and deeply saddened to hear that you are no longer amongst us in person, but you will remain forever in our hearts and minds, as well as on the front cover of our book! It was a pleasure to know you mate, RIP.

BURDEN, Ross Kelvin (Ross) Born 16-12-1968. Passed away on 17-07-2014. Died too young, suddenly and unfairly and one paper short of his fourth degree. My beloved adored CJ, you have left me, silently, without waiting for me to come home to you. What fun we have had - 7 hour lunches, longer degustation dinners, too much wine, talking too loud, laughing too long, telling each other terrible jokes, exchanging lies and tall story's, playing up and skidding home sideways, always late!!. I will treasure our precious time together and thank you for the wonderful ball we had together, Soar high and fly free, unshackled, and continue your travelling of the Universe and beyond. The world is now minus one big huge sparkling diamond. I adore you. Sleep tight Babe- Jude To the funniest guy around. A true scholar and a gentleman. Sleep tight and fly high. From the Chauffeur - Roger
