Fond memories of Rosie met her few times over many years here working in East Tamaki, you were a true character and we enjoyed your visits with Cashew to our flag shop, have often wondered how you were in past years, your presence was missed, was so sorry to hear of your passing. Watched Passengers documentary last night saw Dr Jack, and thought hey that is Rosie's husband! RIL dear lady.

Rosie, a neighbour and true friend
Our thoughts for you will never end
You came into our lives one day
But sadly now, have gone away
Spread your wings with your open heart
For its' not the end but just the start
Take care along your way
As we will meet again one day

With reducing habitat, now and then a person with kindness and compassion comes along and offers a place of hope and refuge. Thank you Rosie, for saving, nursing, feeding and protecting us. Forever grateful, the wildlife at Tiraumea Reserve.

Come fly with us Rosie, since you now have wings.

Rosie, Nola, and June Sang

Wendy Phillipa Wong

September 26, 2021

Rosie was the much loved youngest sister of Nola Wong (nee Sang), currently of Palmerston North.

Nola often tells us about how Rosie was born while the family was on the run as refugees in China during WWII. Every time, we imagine the courage and fortitude of their own mother - my Nanna, Daisy Sang - to bring five young children including newborn baby Rosie through danger and uncertainty to a new life in New Zealand.

And, a new life they had. These are the 3 youngest Sang children in Napier in the 1940s, left to right: Rosie, Nola, and June (who we lost in 2018).

Rosie and June trained as singers and sang duets, winning every Easter competition in Napier; their favorite song was 'Sweetheart of the Valley'. Accomplished roller-skaters, they also performed together in shows on Marine Parade.

Aunty Rosie was generous, big-hearted, and loved life. Somewhere she's still skating, singing, and dancing. Dance on, Aunty Rosie!
