Ron - it is with a heavy heart that I learned of your passing while traveling to Waiheke this Easter Weekend. I was privileged to first meet you as an up and coming Uni student. I admired you right from the beginning - your warm heart, switched on brain and witty sense of humour with a wicked smile! Thank you for everything you did for me personally and for my whanau - you and Judy were so very kind and welcoming of us and I will never forget that. I feel awful that I let the last couple of years slip by without any contact and I'm so sorry to you and Judy for that and for missing out on seeing you during that time. I'm also sorry I missed celebrating your life at your funeral. I am trying to find the photo of you and Kerry at my graduation - both there supporting me through my studies. You were not only a valued mentor but a really caring friend - who just happened to love rugby. Rest peacefully. Arohanui Kara, Swaz and whanau x

Ron Stone was a true gentleman in every sense, a master, mentor, coach and friend to so many boys and their families after teaching at Saint Kentigern College for 26 years. He was an honorary member of the Saint Kentigern Old Collegians Association (SKOCA) and always present at annual dinners and rugby matches. To think he will only be present in spirit in the years ahead brings sadness but the Old Collegians will remember him, always. Ron possessed a "positive charge" that benefited so many lives, and will continue to do so for those who were fortunate enough to know him. Fides Servanda Est.

Oh Ron,
Only today did I learn of your passing. How sad I am my friend. Those years together at Fletcher Challenge and beyond were very special to me and so many others. You brought joy, friendship, humour, health, perspective and genuine sincerity to our business world. It was great to share those times with you.
Our love and best wishes to Judy and 'the gang'.
We have lost a great friend but are left with fond memories.

I had the pleasure of working with Ron at Fletcher Building. What a great guy, he was inspirational, so full of energy and an ability to attack any task and succeed with a minimum of fuss. So many things to remind me, gym, French chateaus, dragon boating, Christmas kids parties,Fletcher AGM's, holidays, bromeliads at our front door, French red wine. It is so hard to believe you are no longer with us. Our love to the wonderful Stone family, so sorry.

I was taught by Ron at Normal Intermediate in 1958 and he was my rugby and cricket coach. My wife taught with him at St Kents. We watched rugby and cricket together. He was a good AGS Old Boy and a good guy. We had a Pinot together the other year here in Gibbston Valley. I only found out of his passing today RIP Ron

Judy, Natalee, Rachel and Matthew - I am so very sorry to learn that our much loved Ron has passed. I will always remember what a good sport he was going along with our crazy ideas for the Wairakei programme we used to run all those years ago and the extraordinary contribution he made to that programme and the impact he had on the lives of those he touched. Dear Judy and Family,
Ron had many friends over here in the UK and in France where he travelled a number of times. He was a wonderful host and helpful to all of those who then ventured down under to explore NZ in connection with Ellesmere College. He became a lifelong personal friend that will be missed, but remembered with great affection by all of us.
Love to you all,
Paul & Benedicte Goodwin

Very sad to hear of the passing of Ron. My Housemaster in the mid to late 60s. Ron was a great educator and compassionate person. I didn't realise how young you were then. Lovely to hear that you have a large family to support you through this time. God Bless.
