Roland ALLEN Obituary

ALLEN, Roland John (Roly). Died suddenly on 15 November 2017. Dearly loved husband of Maureen and father of Michael, Greg, Suzanne, and Craig. Loved father-in-law of Louise, Mali, and Chris, and loved Grandad of Brook, Ben, Samantha, Morgan, and Richard.. Great grandad of Regan, and Harley. A private cremation will be held. There will be a Memorial celebration of Roly's life at Bridge Park Bowling Club, Taylor Roa,d Mangere Bridge on Monday 20 November at 2 pm. My cousin Roly and I grew up in Kakahi (near Taumarunui)We both along with our siblings attended Kakahi Primary School.
As country boys we both loved the outdoor way of life and as we grew older played sport together including hockey and cricket for Kakahi.
I was extremely honoured when Roly asked me to be Best Man at his wedding to Maureen in Auckland on 19 May 1960.
Though I moved overseas in 1963 we never lost touch and caught up from time to time over the ensuing years at their home in Manukau or at Kakahi School reunions and Allen Family reunions.
He was a very kind and caring man and as he came from a large family his own family and his extended family were very dear to him.
My deepest sympathy to Maureen and her family and to cousin Jennifer and Leo.
May he rest in peace.
