A great team mate when the Grammar 3rd grade won the Auckland championship in 1965.
Always admired Roger’s rugby achievements. Fond memories of him singing Monday Monday, a Mamas and Papas huge hit. Rest in peace my friend.

Roger brightened up our school and was a treasured colleague to us all at Pigeon Mountain School. Without exception, Roger was positive, thoughtful, and engaged with every member of staff. He gave his time so willingly, even after his retirement, and it was evident that he got so much out of coaching children to enjoy sport as much as he did. More importantly, he taught children about being a good sport too- winning was not the most important thing to get out of sport in his eyes, and this matched our school values perfectly. We'll miss his visits, but his kind and generous influence on our students and staff will never be lost.

Dear Whatman Family
Loverly Man. The only person that could kick a rugby ball forward and it would float backwards. How did Roger do that ! Memorable.
