I only worked with Roger for a short time at Gunz, but my impression of him has lasted over many years. His, sometimes mischeivous, sense of humour, his easy ability to relate to everyone he encountered and his ability to play (self taught he claimed) the piano made him a very unique person. Combined with his extraordinary knowledge of the dental industry that was so generously shared made Roger, for me, a very valued colleague. Thank you Roger.

I was in the athletic team with Roger. He was the fastest guy at College over 50 yards. Roger was in his final year at Sacred Heart when I was in 3rd form and he always had time to talk to us young guys. I have always remembered that. Confortare Esto Vir

Roger was my incredible boss all those years ago. It was 1997 and I had my interview with him at 6pm in the Gunz Office Remuera. We chatted like we were at the pub and then came the ciggies.. he believed in me and I so adored him as a Boss & Friend! Roger helped shape my career and supported me through good times and bad. A real Gentleman. RIP my friend xx

We met Roger through mutual friends in Sydney in the early 80’s and shared many happy social occasions with him . He was wonderful , friendly company, always ready for a “chat” , enquiring about the lives of others with sincere interest . The occasions were accompanied by good food , wine , laughter and music , especially guitars and a song or two! We’ve been fortunate to have known Roger and to have shared his friendship. Rest in Peace good friend. Ann and David

I have known Roger for many years and as a 16 year old working for Brian Robinson I was always in awe of him for his presence and knowledge in the Dental Industry. That deep voice was one I will never forget!! We never got to travel together to Dental Training courses overseas like we talked about, but I know those that did had a great time. Rest easy Roger, till we meet again.

Roger will be remembered by the Dental profession in New Zealand with huge respect and affection . He lived as a true gentleman , honourable in his dealings with the
profession, always willing to support and encourage young dentists embarking on their careers in the NZ setting, freely offering advice when sought and willingly supportive where needed in a humble and collegial manner.
His father Joe was a pioneer in the Dental industry also highly respected and loved and to follow him was not an easy role. Roger had the courage and demeanour to establish himself in his own right to the next generation of dentists and with that was regarded as a friend, colleague and confidante to so many.
His ready smile, his openness with genuine friendship is something those of us who knew and worked with him will remember with respect, and value the privilege of having known him.
He will be missed

My memories of Roger, always helpful and positive over the many yrs and times that we interacted via Dentistry.
A credit to the Shalfoon name and to the Dental profession, after his father Jo who started the Shalfoon contribution to Dentistry.
Rest in peace Roger

one off my abiding memories of Roger IN 2011 was after DR Mahendra Moopnar and I discussed the idea for our charity SMILES FOR THE PACIFIC and as we walked out of NZDA conference room and the first colleague we bumped into was Roger at his stand with NSK and we shared our ideas and vision to which he immediately replied that NSK would always stand by us for support and sponsorship which they have done to this day A wonderful colleague we salute you Roger from SFTP
