E hoa cuz - when you left Hamilton, I have looked everywhere for you, Ria and the girls - and went to Taumarunui, was told that all the Herberts had moved to Gisborne anyway I kept on looking for you and am sitting here - and thought I'll try again well lo an behold I finally found you - cuz I really appreciate the time I spent with you and family - much Aroha to Ria and whanau

My heart goes out to you Ria, Brenda, Chan, Patrice and your families, very sad to hear that Roger had passed away. Taken far too soon, he was larger than life and I remember him being referred to as a lovable rogue. He was an awesome brother-in-law, he helped out in so many ways when we were newly married, he loved our girls and my mum, and always had time to visit and catch up.

I remember one day in town I backed into a nice motorbike and knocked it over, by the time I got out of the car he had seen me from across the road, came over and said 'just go' .. I said I cant, and he said 'just go, I'll deal with this". So I drove away and he took care of it somehow. He just looked after us in so many ways.

Have shed lots of tears for you all, but he left us with great memories, a big guy with a big heart and the most liekable personality. I'm picturing him joining the whanau card table in heaven and still trying to cheat!
