Roger St Clair Brown
Long time friend and associated structural engineer, so sad to hear of his untimely departure.
Roger teamed up with me on many structural projects, both in NZ and California. He was an outstanding engineer, and had the rare gift to be able to visualize and combine different sometimes opposing elements into economic design solutions that did not compromise an original architectural design. His engineering skills won awards, including my circular reinforced brick masonry office building at 82 Symonds Street in Auckland.
Roger was a natural sportsman, and was a fierce competitor in many sports. He was a valuable crew member when we won the Swan Rolex European yacht regatta in Gernsey, and the Lloyd Bank Trophy around the Isle of Wight, England.
Condolences to Debbie and their girls.

Roger was a nice guy and a very good engineer. I have fond memories from my Wilkins and Davies days when I priced and won several cement silos including Hamer St Silo and major works at Portland Cement, Whangarei.

Roger was always larger than life, with an enthusiastic bias to action. A fine engineer, skier and great personality. (2017 pic shows Roger inspecting underfloor reservoir at Grads Ski lodge, Whakapapa).

Please accept Margaret and my sympathy on your loss of Roger.
He will be remembered here at Matarangi for resurrecting a defunct Residents and Ratepayers Accociation and for a silky golf swing
