I am so saddened to hear of Rodney's passing. He was a lovely man who was so kind to us all at the Tongariro Sawmill at National Park. My Dad Lewis Williams was his Headrig operator for nearly 32yrs. His brother Aka worked for him for 35yrs and his son my cousin Rodney Williams was named after him. My Mum made the smoko's for them, my brother Daniel completed his Sawdoctor apprenticeship with Rodney's help and my younger sister Colleed 'turned down' for him for nearly 10yrs. My condolences to Rodney's wife and family. This man was deeply respected and loved by us, he knew our whole family. Rest in Peace dear man
Love on behalf of the above,
Netta (Lu's daughter)

My thoughts are with you all. Rodney was such a great man and an inspiration to many, particularly my late husband Kevin Butturini. I also remember his service to scouting and support of our activities when we were in New Plymouth.
