In shock and unempowered today to have tried to contact you for one of our excellent chats and some rugby banter. I was lucky to spend some time with you and call you my friend. Some of the best advice I have ever received and while I did not know your family you always gave me a proud update on how they were doing. You are one of the good souls and made this world a better place. I will miss you more than words can say. May the heavens have a special place for you great man.

So sorry to learn of Rod's passing. I was a devoted Rugbologist and Rod gave me kind and wise advice after my father's death. If ever the phrase "countless friends" rang true - it was for Rod. He will be sorely missed. Deepest condolences to his family. Mike Aspell

Rod - I only had the honour of meeting you once in Wanaka but we had an hilarious time chatting on the phone several times. You were gracious, compassionate, kind and so much fun - even when recommending and helping with something like insurance. That says everything. Your passing has deeply impacted your loved ones. Much love and light to you and your whanau. Fly high.
