It's the 12th of August and I have only just learned of Robbie's death.

I am so saddened by it. I liked him very much indeed because he was a man of deeply human values and he always treated people, of whatever age, with their full measure of human dignity. Some people find that had to do; not Robbie.
He was also a man of great good humour and it made him a positive person to be with. Then there were his skills of music and as with all his talents, he was a very generous man.
I am the richer for having known you Robie, The richer for your positive attitude, and for all those things, I thank you deeply.

A truly inspiring relief teacher. I'm a teacher myself now and I have such fond memories of his wonderful stories. He was a real shining light; a highlight of my primary school years.

He would put aside the scripted lesson and worksheets to recount epic stories to us, holding students enthralled. He clearly cared for even other teachers' students and gave so generously of his time, mind, and wit.

He taught me the need to be ready to give up prescribed notions of teaching to empower real learning through the power of stories.

My condolences to his family and friends. Be comforted knowing his life made a real, lasting difference to many.

Hi Queenie,
Thanks for sharing.

Please convey our sincere sympathy to the Bricknell family. Mr. Bricknell, his passion for music left a mark in many LPS students.. I remember the many weekly assemblies and the songs we sang , were the result of Mr. Bricknell's interest. I also remembered some of the school dances, when Mr. Bricknell would come and take some of us "wallflowers" on the dance floor. Lots of good memories to recall and remember; we ex LPS students are very grateful to all the teachers from New Zealand that have contributed to our the education and gave us the tools to achieve and create what we have today.

Cherish the sweet memories Mr. Bricknell left behind..
