Rob was a great man who made me feel welcome from the moment I started teaching at Maeroa. I will remember the positive feedback and affirmations for what I was doing, him sitting out on a chair in the sun outside a class during break time with his cupola, and when I got out of the pool after the teachers vs student relay race him saying I can spot an ex swimmer when I see one. I am so sorry for the sudden loss of Rob, one of the world's greats who has left a legacy in all who have met, worked with, and been taught by him. Aroha nui Begbie whanau

Robin stood at the side of the Aramoho School swimming pool in Wanganui at swimming sports cheering me on. I was a five year old desperately trying to dog paddle across the pool. I never made it. I remember stopping half way across, standing up, crying my eyes out. When I finally walked to the other side Robin was there with a huge smile and a hug to say well done. Much love and respect for this man. Sue Wilby ( Bruce )
