Hearing of Bob's passing has me feeling sad of course but more than that, incredibly grateful for his vision and implementation of Kiwi Can. I managed the programme for 3 years in Auckland. The impact this programme had on children's lives in the 12 South Akld schools where my 16 leaders taught, was massive. The effect Bob's philanthropic move to create Kiwi Can had to be witnessed to be applauded. No need for a clapping of hands - I felt the joy and inspiration those Kiwi Can Leaders lived and breathed by sharing strategies for life's challenges with thousands of children in South Auckland. Then there was the impact Kiwi Can had on the children's lives. Having mentors like the Kiwi Can Leaders I was fortunate enough to have in our team was a privilege. Those children were in awe of their energy and authenticity. The Kiwi Can chants, routines and rhythm left a very bright footprint on the schools those children attended. Those leaders brought hope and guidance to so many. Teacher and principals shared how those often truant would attend school on the one day of the week their Kiwi Can lesson was held. Sponsors kindly donated after experiencing those classes first hand. Our team got to meet Bob once. I took him to one school and introduced him to some of the leaders. He was a legend to us all. Few people have the innovation and courage to get out there and start a programme for the sake of doing something decent in the community. Bob did. Inspiration and role modelling are fundamentals of a fulfilled life in my opinion. Without positive role models and aspiration life is seen through different filters. Bob Wickham created the Kiwi Can ' Can do' filter which I know, absolutely, lives on in the mindsets of those children and leaders. Thank you Bob, sincerely, for this gift to us all.

Bob gave me my first job working on his beautiful farm when I was 14, mainly because I was good at tennis. He always had a cheeky smile, even when I beat him on court. After a hard days work on the farm, he fed me crayfish and strawberries. A true character and legend. Condolences to the family.
