So sorry to hear of your loss Lorna. Rob was such a fun guy to spend time with and I'll never forget the sailing adventures when we jointly owned Celere. My heart goes out to you and your family.

I met Rob at the UASC way back in the early 80's, and spent 3 months skiing in the US with him, but since then have only bumped into him once or twice. However his love for life and infectious enthusiasm has always remained with me and I've thought of him as an absent friend. It was a great shock to hear of his passing and my thoughts are with you Lorna and your family.

A moving service for a lovely man. I and many others knew Rob through the Stroke and Stride events - I particularly, as we were of fairly similar standard and usually finished fairly close together. It is so hard to believe that he's gone, that I won't see him at the start and the finish (and during the race!) any more. He will be much missed, not just by me but by all at S&S who knew his smiling face. Thank you Rob for all the pleasure you brought so many people.

Our paths haven't crossed for many years but Rob your generosity of spirit, your passion for life and that winning smile left its mark. You inspired Douglas greatly. It is an honour to have shared time with both you and Lorna. Our hearts are with you and all of your family Lorna.

A handful of happiness
heroes are rare
the light never dark
the spark ever bright
the eyes
High notes, a detour, a cloud of snow
You know,
moments
of inspiration
Too soon, too sad. Happy memories.
Dear Lorna & family, thinking of you all so far away, remembering Rob together, by the sea on the day that the world celebrates love.

I had the greatest pleasure of getting to know Rob both professionally and personally in the past few years.
As a highly respected colleague within IPENZ his wisdom, intellect, in-depth knowledge and willingness to share his knowledge, compassion, calm manner, engaging personality, humour, efficiency and ability to make things happen was much appreciated and relied upon.
His massive contribution to the engineering profession and in particular competence assessment cannot be under estimated and probably never replicated.
I enjoyed getting to know Rob personally and found him to be a caring friend, a loving and deeply dedicated father and husband and a enthusiastic participator in so many interests. I will miss his friendship, our regular chats and his cheerful company,
Rob will be missed in so many ways by the engineering profession and by myself personally.
Rest in peace Rob and may Rob's loved ones know that his impact in so many lives will life on

It is difficult to find the words to express how saddened we are by this tragic loss. We count it a privilege to have had the opportunity to come to know Rob, such a constantly smiling, enthusiastic and deeply committed family man.
We extend our deepest sympathies to Lorna, the children, Rob's extended family and close friends at this desperately sad time.

Words cannot express the deep sadness felt by so many of us at the loss of a lovely gentle man. Rob will be dearly missed. He touched everyone he met in a very special way. His compassion is what impacted me most and of course that beautiful smile and bright eyes. My heart goes to Lorna and the children and Rob's closest Family and Friends. If there is anything we can do to help we offer our support. Our prayers are with Lorna and the children. Much love Ilona, Michael and Family

Rob was a rock. He was a solid friend ... there for us all .. with a keen ear and always a kind and compassionate heart.
He had a great energy and sense of fun which we all treasured and which will live on in all of us.
But the rock has now fallen away from the place where it was and there remains instead a gaping hole
Lorna, Zac, Bella, Enzo .. you are not alone . ... your friends and family stand with you and for you where the rock once was. We will give back to you that which Rob gave to all of us.
Rest in peace Rob. You were a wonderful blessing to us all. We will cherish your life always.

Rob was really a good friend, full of vitality and humanism, so sad to say goodbye already. I will miss him, but wish that his memory will remind us that compassion and understanding for others is so important. He had a huge heart and was a nice man. I wish I could be there to support his family, but too far away. A lots of love from us.
