I remember many times sitting in Dr Bob's office listening to his tales of wonder...and I just popped in to collect some work from him. An amazing man who will be greatly missed. My thoughts and prayers are with you Verna, and your family at this time.

In honour of Dr Robert William Katterns - a man who willingly shared what he knew with his students and colleagues. I had the privilege of being taught by him when I was a student teacher at Hamilton Teachers College and he was a young lecturer. And then many many years later I had the privilege to be mentored by him in research. He was such a servant hearted person who would invest so much time into his students. I loved the way he enjoyed being involved with Verna's classroom. Verna my thoughts and prayers are with you at this time. love and God bless

What a loss both personally and professionally! A TRUE teacher that has left a massive LEGACY!!! Dr Bob inspired my love for learning and teaching as I sat in his classes many years ago! Then a number of years later at BTI I again had the amazing privilege to experience his passion for learning, his unfathomable yet consistent belief and encouragment of me, his gentle mentoring, his art for story telling (including the timely pauses for effect!), his love for people and of course for his family... I am eternally grateful! Verna, Fleur & Andrew and chn - our hearts and prayers go out to you. May you sense God's comfort.

Dr Bob will always be remembered as a most influential and inspirational educator. A dedicated professor who lived to empower others with a love for humanity, for learning amd reflection and a passion for life.
A true statesman and gentleman, humble yet strong. Like Moses a meek leader who led 1000s. We honour Bob and pray for verna, Fluer and wider family

My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family Verna.
Bob to me was a gorgeous, gentle man and a supportive colleague. I will always remember him, particularly when I read 'Mr McGee' to my children. Bob gave me this book just before the birth of my daughter and we have always read it together. She has just started school and is starting to read. What a fitting book to begin with.
