Robert GRATTON Obituary

GRATTON, Robert Walter. Lt. Cdr (Rtd), RNZN Service No. 21452 Passed away on 2 January 2019 at North Shore Hospital, aged 69 years. A much loved husband, father, son, brother, in-law, uncle, teacher, colleague and friend. A passionate teacher of science. Robert's wish was that his brain be donated to the Neurological Foundation Brain Bank and that he be cremated. There will be no formal funeral but our heartfelt thanks go to all those scores of people who, during the 18 months since his diagnosis, came from overseas and from all over NZ to visit Robert, who sent him messages, emails and gifts, who kept him company during chemotherapy sessions and who brought him so much cheer. He appreciated you all so much and your support for him while he was still with us will be treasured always. Robert was a man of integrity, kindness and fun who will be remembered with happiness. No flowers please, but a donation in Robert's name to the Neurological Foundation (0508BRAINS 0508 272 467) would be gratefully received. Messages to the Gratton family, 19 Merani St, Devonport.
