What a wonderful family and Bob a very kind man.
Bullen's pie's and doughnuts have never been matched.
I have eaten pie's all around the world and they are still at the top of my list.
In fact Bob's pie's came up in meeting with my Uncle Damian in Australia last week.
Everyday, cream buns and one scone were purchased for Mc Cowan and Gerring.
The scone being for Brian.
Great food is always a fond memory.
Rest in peace Bob and show them how to make pie's.
Kind regards Stephen and Christine Prendergast.

Condolences to all of Bob and Di´s family ..my Aunty Irene O´Connor worked for Bob and his parents for many years she always spoke so highly of them all .. I recall your Grandparents , their wonderful baking and dedication to such a demanding business .. it was a special treat to have a Bullens Pie for school lunch from their original store .. we would usually run down from school to the Bakery so we wouldn´t miss out ..

My Dad was the baker at Bullens Bakery Ngaruawahia. He worked for the grand parents and then Bob. He was there from aged 14yrs. till 65yrs. Bullens must have been great bosses to keep one man at one job, for all those yrs. Addy Wilson was my Dad's name. I am Janice Belk. Nee Wilson.
My father was Addy Wilson. He did the baking for Bob and his parents. He was there from aged 14 till he retired at 65yrs. One job all his life, you must have been unreal bosses to keep someone for that length of time. I remember they were famous for their mince and vegie pies. Many a day spent at the bake house. One memory always stuck in my mind. Dad asked if Dennis could put a bag of flour down the shoot. Dennis and I took ages dragging this sack of flour across to the hopper. Well Dad was yelling, are you going to be long? Then he put his head up the shoot as we tipped the flour. Yip he became Doughy. All we saw was Bob lying on the floor in hysterics and Dad sending us home not very politely.
