Robert BENDING Obituary

BENDING, Robert (Bob). March 1940 - August 2023. It is with great sorrow and relief that my very best friend and mate of 52 years has passed away. Bob was a true and trusted friend, and never once in those 52 years was there an angry word between us. We played golf together for more than 40 years, starting at Pupuke and then at Huapai, until illness stopped him playing and I shifted north. My mate died on Friday night, 18 August in North Shore Hospital after a light stroke which brought on dementia. Bob was the Club Captain of Pupuke Golf Club and was instrumental in starting the Hundred Mile Club and reintroducing the Melbourne Cup Day, to mention just a couple of his achievements. We played gold in Fiji, Noumea, Gold Coast, Sunshine Coast, and the Waiheke Open. My special thoughts go to Myrna and the family. Thank you my true and trusted friend. God bless and rest in peace. Forever in my thoughts. Robbie Robertson.

Much loved cousin of Eileen Bending (Sue). Many fond childhood memories of shared school holidays with you and your mum, Hilda, and nan and pop. We had some good laughs. So glad we caught up by phone.You will be so missed.
