I was saddened to hear that Dick had died and that I had also missed the funeral. My thoughts are with you Daphne, Martin, Maree, Cindy and families and I know that Dick will be watching over you all.

Dick was a lovely kind man who had lots of time for the neighbourhood kids when we were growing up to teach us how to ride a bike, feed your chickens and harvest that huge vegetable patch at Waikowhai. When we crossed paths occasionally over the years, he was immensely proud of all his family and always keen on a good yarn.

I remember as I was growing up he was always fit, always walking everywhere and all his stories he would tell. He was never short of a word. The second to last time I was there visiting them at christmas time he bosted about my husband about what a good man he is what a hard worker he is.
