RICHARD ROEDER Obituary

ROEDER RICHARD G. (DICK) Age 85. July 26, 1926 – March 17, 2012. Wife Doris (married 62 years); sons Rick, Mike (Ruth) and Dale (Kathy); grandchildren Eric (Hilary), Chris (Lara), Katie, Alex and TJ; great-grandchild Evelyn; sister Elsbeth (Beth) Anctil. Born in Buffalo, New York, he came to Michigan due to the outstanding actuarial program at the University of Michigan. While at the University, he became president of the Michigan Union and was chosen for several Honors Societies, including Michigama. In 1962, he incorporated the firm Gabriel, Roeder & Smith, an actuarial consulting firm which primarily serviced large governmental pension funds. Skill and integrity were the firm's hallmarks. Among Mr. Roeder's many interests: tennis, travel, poetry, the visual arts and the theatre. He was a philosopher and revered by his family. Memorials to Starr Commonwealth (serving troubled youth and their families) and Birmingham Bloomfield Art Association.
