Thank you uncle John for the inspirational mentorship you have shared with my family .
I have fond memories of your quirky smile as Stan & Ben tore around your driveway barefoot with a pram...
Your passing is the falling of a mighty oak in a forest of green , leaving a deep chasm of virtue & wisdom for others to strive to obtain.
My Heartfelt condolences extend to Sheridon, Mark & Adrienne & their families at this sad time.
Love Jane

John, will always be remembered and held in high regard, by those who had the honour of knowing him. My late husband and I met John and his late wife Shirley, first of all as members of The Rotary Club of New Lynn. I believe that John was a charter member of the New Lynn Club in 1958. and became Club President in 1963. Over the years, he was involved in many very successful Rotary initiatives and programs. In all of his undertakings, John gave generously of his time , expertise. and wisdom. John and I have both worked together for many years, on the the Board of the Thode Trust, and the Friendship Club of New Lynn. John was a dedicated supporter of both of these organisations , which, since 1958, has provided the venue for the social , and club activities and the hand of friendship to a great many senior citizens of the New Lynn, Avondale, Mt Albert and other surrounding areas . On behalf of all of these people , I offer sincere condolences to John's family members at this sad time of parting of them from the Head of their family. None better , John was a true gentleman , honest and caring . Be proud of the fact that the father you so loved, earned the respect of all who knew him. Sadly many of those have been outlived by John and now the time has come for him to be reunited with his beloved Shirley. RIP dear John.
