Dear Pijnaker family,
I was looking in the internet for old friends.
It was a great shock for me when I came across this death notice of René.
When we were teenagers, Rene and I shared a lot of time with each other.
The first time I met him was at the flowerbulb company of Witteman in Hillegom.
We were both active swimmer and waterpolo player.
For some time René even joined our swimming team NVA in Overveen (NL).
Then he moved to HPC in Heemstede, where Wim Geurtsen, one of the best swimming coaches at that time in Holland, was his swimming coach and he managed to swim under 1 minute.
We were both very interested in sport, especially swimming and gathered all kinds of materials about swimming coaching, techniques, training schedules, weight training and so on.
We also travelled through Holland by train for 1 or 2 weeks with the so called teenager tour ticket of the dutch railway company and we slept in different youth hostels.
In 1985 I emigrated to Germany.
The last time we saw each other was at my wedding in Hillegom in 1987, where he told me that he will or was already emigrated.
René was a very positive thinking, sportive, enthusiastic and nice person.
My condolences to Marianne and children.

Onze condoleances vanuit Maassluis, Nederland.

My condolences to Rene's family. He was a much loved teacher at Lynmore primary, all of my children have fond memories of him as the "cool PE teacher" I loved how he always remembered them and asked about them when I saw him, even years after my eldest left Lynmore school.
