Regina TAN-NGUI Obituary

I was very saddened to hear of Aunty's passing. I have such fond memories of growing up and living next door to the Ngui family in Tabuan Road in Kuching. Aunty was a lady ahead of her time and was an inspirational role model. I can still hear her playing the Starlight Waltz on the piano. She will be sorely missed and it is a privilege to have known her. My deepest sympathy to Merlyna, Merlisa, Joseph, Merlynda and families. A tribute to the memory of Regina

Your mum is a strong woman with a big heart. She is strong willed, determined, outspoken, forthright and even opinionated when she chooses to. And at the same time she is genuinely kind, generous and caring. She reaches out and touches many lives. She knows how to keep her life in line and after your dad passed away, even with ache in her heart, she still manages to say nah, I'm fine. She feels deeply and loves her God fiercely too.

In short she is a wonderful person and the world is a better place because of her. She has lived a full life and we must continue with her legacy. She will be greatly missed but her memory will live forever in our hearts.

I remember Auntie Gina fondly. She was the most progressive aunt that someone from a relatively conservative family can have. She was always encouraging us to dream big and reach for the stars. And as a woman in her era, she did that too. It is good that in this era of Facebook, one can learn about such events quickly even when we are all far apart. But we will always hold my memories of Auntie Gina dear and close. Heaven needed their new angel, so you were called. They need your laughter and fun.

May you rest in eternal peace and may you liven it up there too.

Rest in peace my Godma with uncle.

Last night, my grandmother, Regina Ngui, passed away.

This is a tribute dedicated to her.

She was a very energetic person, despite her old age. She would always enjoy playing the piano, find someone to play tai ti with, bake her moist banana cake and help us stitch up any holes in our clothing. Even in her younger years she was always on the move, with her nursing job and love for travelling the world. Her final hours were spent together with most of her children, Aunties Melissa and Melinda, and Uncle Joseph. It was really unfortunate our mother, Merlyna, couldn't get there in time. Although we'll miss her dearly, we know she'll always be watching over us in a better place with grandfather.
