MARKS, Raymond Daniel (Ray). On Saturday 3rd January 2026. Peacefully at home, aged 77. Beloved husband and best mate, of Margaret for 57 years. Greatly loved Dad and father-in-law of Peter and Ruth, Scott and Shelley, Richard and Lisa, and Steph and Kyle. Adored 'Grandi' of his 11 grandchildren, their partners, and his 1.5 great- grandchildren. A funeral service for Ray will be held in the chapel of Willetts Funeral Services, 21 King Street, Whakatane on Thursday 8th January at 2.30pm followed by a private cremation. In lieu of flowers, donations would be appreciated to the Whakatane Kiwi Trust at www. whakatanekiwi.org.nz/ donate. We remember Ray as an all-round good engaging guy. He was immensely proud of his family. He was committed to the outdoors: tramping, camping, hunting, fishing, and was actively involved in conservation work for as long as he was physically able (we all remember stories about his trap lines).
We will be forever grateful to Ray and Marg for having given us a great son-in-law, Peter.
Pass-on in peace, Ray. The world is a better place because you have been here.
