Raymond HADDON Obituary

HADDON, Raymond Arthur William (Ray). Passed away peacefully at Liston Heights Care Home on Wednesday, 31st December 2025, aged 89, from pneumonia. His sons, James and John, grandsons, Peter, William and Erik, and daughters-in-law, Maria and Laurie, were all able to be with him on FaceTime during his final hours. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Jo, who passed in 2020. Ray was a university lecturer in applied mathematics and a geophysicist. He had a gift for teaching, able to distil complex concepts into manageable pieces. He was an amazing father and grandfather: kind, loving, intelligent but uncomplicated, teaching his most important lessons by example. The family would like to thank all those who supported him in his final days, and in particular all the staff at Liston Heights who provided excellent care, kindness, and friendship to him during the difficult final years of his life. Ray was cremated privately in Taupō on 2nd January. In lieu of flowers, friends are invited to donate to Lake Taupo Hospice in his memory.
