Years late in finding out about your death and only after my move home from Australia. You were an absolute talent and assisted us greatly with the formation and growth of Hawk Packaging Ltd. I and many others will be forever in your debt.
Rest in peace friend.

Was shocked to learn only today (Oct9th) that Ray died 3 months ago. He was our neighbour at Umere Crescent in 1975 who welcomed us as a young married couple with 1 child and we remained friends ever since. Ray was treasured by our family as a source of wonder with his amazing knowledge and determination and actions to make the world a better place. His generosity was legendary and his gift of grafted plums and apples are an enduring legacy in the family garden. RIP dear Ray.

Dear Ray, your name was constantly mentioned over the nine and a half years I worked at Michael Park Steiner School. I met you once or twice very briefly and I'm extremely sad that I didn't know you better as you were revered in the community and i feel i have missed my opportunity to know a very special person. I am also shocked that you passed over the threshold so suddenly, as you seemed to be so young in spirit and still extremely sprightly! You are and will be dearly missed. With Much warmth, from Anne Jones

Whenever the bell rings out at Micheal Park School, the Ray Weaver Bell will send his laughter across the school and on wards to all those children he blessed by allowing them to play on his tennis court. A special friend to the Micheal Park School Community, particularly in its early struggling days.
A grateful parent, Fiona Keith-Kirk

Ray was so many things to different people to me he was a kind, slightly eccentric, interesting neighbour with a paradise for a back garden when I was growing up in Umere Crescent. He was a marvellous friend to my father Phil Barrowclough. He always welcomed me for a cup of tea and a chat when I called on him during visits to New Zealand. The Crescent certainly won't be the same without him. My thoughts are with his family.

Ray was a truly remarkable man who I am so grateful to have known. He loved & supported my mother through thick & thin, & I will always be grateful. I am truly sorry that I was unable to be there today to help celebrate his incredible life & to pay my last respects. I hope you and mum are at peace together now xxx Averil
As he so often did, Ray made us laugh by posing by our skip (2009)

I miss you my friend. I miss your kindness; inherent care and concern for human beings; incredible generosity and quirky sense of humour. You showed me what it meant to be a true neighbour. You were a rare jewel and I am privileged to have walked awhile alongside you.

I knew Ray from when I was a wee girl. I can remember spying on him with Stuart next door, playing in the water outlets on the tennis court with the Maxwells ( I wrote my name in there), climbing his macrocarpa trees and sliding down the outside branches, being stung on the face by one of his bees, having his home made brandy on Christmas Day, and most recently growing the wild flower seeds he sent me down in Taranaki. I have collected those seeds so the flowers I grow from now on will always be "Ray's Wildflowers". RIP Ray.
