Dear Ray,
You gave me a career in books I could never have imagined in 1965 in Wellington, then sending me to Sydney in 1970 to be Managing Editor. When I left to be Managing Driector of Australia's only literary agency, Curtis Brown Australia you were disappointed that this "young pup" had left. Ironically, you too left Reeds some years later an became a literary agent of distinction in New Zealand.
Many thanks for putting trust and faith in me all those years ago.
- Literary agent for Australian and New Zeland writers for some 40 years now.

I can think of no-one in the world of NZ literature, who was better loved and respected than Ray Richards. Readers and writers nationwide owe him so much.
