Ramon BARKER Obituary

BARKER, Ramon Varley (Ray). Passed peacefully at home 7 July 2014, surrounded by his family. Adored only son of the late Doris Barker-Newman. Beloved and devoted husband of Moira for 62 years. Dearly loved Dad of Jill and Vicki. Respected father-in-law of Warren and Terry. Much loved Ray Pop of Scott, Kent (Australia), and Boyd and Poppa of Demi. Great Grand father of Cassidy, Mischa and Romie (Australia). "While we are sad and shall surely miss him we find comfort in knowing that our lives have been enriched by a very special man. We love you in the whole world." A service for Ramon will be held in the Chapel of Manukau Memorial Gardens, 357 Puhinui Road, Papatoetoe on Friday 11 July at 12.30pm. In lieu of flowers memorial donations to Totara Hospice South Auckland, PO Box 75560, Manurewa, Auckland 2243 would be appreciated or may be left at the service. Ray did work at my home in 1973.He also assisted me on the Committee, when I was Captain. He was a hard working Club member helping the Club in it's formative years. He made a generous contribution. Sympathy to Moira and the family.

Ray is well remembered by some of the longer members of The Grange Golf Club. He was a past Club Captain and President and a good worker around the club. He was instrumental in installing our first automatic greenside irrigation. Our deepest sympathy to all Ray's family from The Grange Golf Club.
