I had the wonderful pleasure of working with Rachel at Whakatane High, but last year, I got a chance to enjoy playing in a string group with her. She was a wonderful cello buddy and her enthusiasm for music, the love of it and playing it, and giving things a go was infectious.

I met lovely Rachel when she was coming surfing with the Chix on Sticks , on Friday mornings in Ohope . I just lived her upbeat and fun way at looking at life. I saw her a few months ago and we chatted in the supermarket. She didn´t mention she´d been unwell - which does not surprise me as she was so upbeat. This is very sad. My love to all the family.

We will very much miss Rachel's enthusiasm, positivity and brave musical efforts in the cello and bass section of the Whakatane Community Orchestra. Arohanui to Rachel's family, and all who will miss her terribly, as we will.
