I only had the pleasure of knowing Phil a short few months but I will treasure those months for the rest of my life. It was obvious he loved being around people but what I really hope he knows is how much people loved being around him, it was almost like he shone a light whenever he entered the room. There were many things special about Phil but the fact he was so eager to live his life to the fullest was one of my favourites, that and his cheeky smile which would automatically make everyone else smile. I am so grateful for the time I got to spend with Phil and I can't explain what a positive impact he had on my life from the day he entered it.
My thoughts are with Phil's family at this sad time, he spoke nothing but beautiful words about you!

Tauranga Hockey extends its sympathy to Phil's family. Phil contributed greatly to the development of the first artificial hockey turf in Tauranga. This created a legacy for the way the game has evolved over time in our region.

Heartfelt condolences Norma and Jackie. Phillip always had a strong desire to live life to the full till he could no longer. I know he was aiming for longer and he will be more than a little angry about the unexpected and sudden departure date as you too will be. But he lived fully, loved fully and will leave us all with many fond memories. Much love.xx
