Susan spoke at Peter's funeral about his little acts of kindness. I was recipient of one of those acts many years ago when I missed out on a job I really wanted. Knowing my disappointment Peter took the time to call and see me at home to share words of support of encouragement. He turned something very sad for me into optimism for my future. I will never forget that at a very low time Peter was there for me.

Peter was a respected and well liked leader in Student Christian Movement at Auckland University in the late 1950s. I remember him well and warmly.

Peter was a big influence on my childhood & teenage years as part of the Onehunga Presbyterian parish. I have many fond memories of bible study classes, weekends away with the combined parishes, church picnics and social evenings. My thoughts are with his family at this sad time.

Peter was a lifelong friend of my father, Eric Laird of Te Awamutu and indeed sister Kathleen married our cousin, Hal Goodacre. The family link was further enhanced by my aunt Nancy Laird being Peter´s organist at Onehunga Presbyterian. My husband and I had a long chat to Peter at the last Manukau Symphony concert two weeks ago. He will be missed by you all. I hope you enjoy all the memories. May he rest in peace. Jane and Garth Gee (née Laird).
