I met Peter in Napier forty six years ago, if I had any problems I would go and sit in the square in Palmerston North and tell him about them, I always came away with the right solution to deal with them, Peter never told me me how to solve them he just pointed out some solutions, the right one was always there.
Peters gentle speaking voice was a gift from God and I realise the friendship that I loved in him was from God, the light and love of God our Saviour was alive and shining bright in him, I am sure he went straight home into the arms of our Lord.
Rest in Peace Peter, I hope I will be blessed enough to meet you again in heaven.

What a sad day, a gentleman in every way. Peter was a great person to work with and over 20 years we shared alot of life. Peter never had a bad word to say and had the ability to see most things in life from many angles. This made him a generous soul who enjoyed a good discussion, movie, book and took time to be with people and keep in touch. RIP Peter, no longer will we meet for a coffee.
Sincere condolences to Bernadette, Mary, Therese, Patricia and all the family who shared his long life.

Dear Therese, Mary, Bernadette & Patricia, we are very sad to hear of Peter´s passing.
He was a wonderful man, and a true gentleman. He was our mother, Sally Coupe´s boss for over 17 years, at the iconic Willis Street Arthur Toye Fabrics, but most importantly was a great friend to mum. He visited her not long before her own passing last year, and wrote a heartfelt tribute to her, which was read at her funeral. He always made such an effort to keep in touch and visit her in her hospital home, and his beautifully handwritten letters were always a delight to receive. A kind and knowledgeable man, Peter will be very much missed by all of us.
May he rest in peace

To Peter's family , please accept my sincere condolences. A true gentleman. I enjoyed getting to know Peter over the last recent years as he was in "the gang of fellows " at the Tatapouri Club who enjoyed a drink and chat together, my late husband Andrew included, on a Thursday evening . I've have lived in Gisborne long enough too to remember shopping at Arthur Toye's Fabrics . Rest in peace in Peter. It was a pleasure to have enjoyed your company.
