Peter THOMSON Obituary

THOMSON, Peter. Passed away 6 February, 2023 at Ranfurly Hospital aged 94. Beloved husband of Jean, dad of Jane, Brian and Maarten. Treasured Grandpa of Guy, Kate and Simon. Dad touched many lives through his many and varied pursuits. He gave many hours of voluntary work to various groups and in particular to Auckland Tennis, Gladstone Tennis Club and Lynfield Tennis Club. He lived life to its fullest and has been a wonderful role model to his family whom he loved unconditionally. His love of angling created many wonderful memories for our family. We will miss you dearly Dad. A celebration of Peter's life will be held at the Central Park Chapel of Davis Funerals, 150 Central Park Drive, Henderson on Saturday 11 February at 1.00pm. Heartfelt thanks to the all the staff at Ranfurly Hospital who have cared for Dad over the last two and half years.

Peter and Jean were a wonderful couple. They took me in as a complete stranger when I was working in Auckland 30 years ago. They taught me how to fish in New Zealand and we spent many happy days on Lake Taupo .
Jean taught me how to cook the best Pumpkin soup.
They had me to stay many times and even came to my wedding in the UK.
They also looked after me after a boating accident in the Hauraki Gulf, not once did they say how stupid I was.
I will miss them. They represent what is so good and kind about the human race. Lovely lovely people

THOMSON, Peter. Loved and respected long time Life Member of Tennis Auckland. Peter worked hard for many decades to assist his beloved Tennis Association in any way he could. He will be sadly missed by his tennis family. Thank you Peter for a job well done. RIP.
