Peter PHILLPOTTS Obituary

PHILLPOTTS, Peter (Withaness). Sadly departed 30 December 2024 after a short illness. Much loved husband for over 60 years of Margaret (deceased) and darling dad to Susan and Glen and father-in-law and friend to Gary (deceased) and Drew. Special buddy of Sammy. Born 11 November 1934. Lucky enough to celebrate his 90th birthday together. Loved by his many nieces, nephews, and friends. Loved life to the full and always had a joke to tell. Very much missed. We will celebrate Peter's long innings on Thursday 9 January at 10.30am at The North Harbour Chapel of Dil's Funeral Services, 185 Schnapper Rock Rd, Albany. The service will be live streamed at https://share. funeral.stream/m3POU.

Dear Glen and Sue,
All my love to you and your families on this sad day.
I have many many fond memories of Peter, a man who had humour and common sense ... a really good man.
My time spent with him and Margaret, and my friend Glen were, and still are some of my best memories.
With all my love,

Sorry to hear about Peter's passing. Peter was a huge mentor and encourager of a long list of athletes who he introduced to race walking, who then went on to become national champions. He was also co-founder of the Auckland Race Walking Assn & put a lot of time into developing walkers in that association, and was a great clubmate of mine at Onehunga Harrier Club. While he was also a walker and placed 3rd in the Auckland Champs 30km in 1984, his best athletic talents were as a sprinter/hurdler, and he was 4th in the 400m hurdles at the World Masters champs in 1981. Peter had a hilarious sense of humour, and on weekend trips away would keep the rest of us in laughs the entire weekend. He will be sadly missed. Condolences to Susan and Glen. RIP Peter, I can never thank you enough for your encouragement and support in my early days in the sport. Thanks for the memories

Very sorry to learn of Peter's passing. A very good friend of my dad's in the Reidrubber days. He was a man who had a wicked sense of humour. The special settee he made for me when I was a child is still being loved by someone else.

May he Rest In Peace.

PHILLPOTTS, Peter. To my family and friends: Have you ever stopped to think, how when you're going to die They wrap you up in a big white shirt, They put you in the ground and they cover you with dirt The worms crawl in and the worms crawl out They come in thin and they go out stout They bring their friends and their friends friends too And OH what a hell of a mess they make of you!!!! Love Peter P.
