I heard about Pete's passing only recently. Peter was our family GP back in the 80's and 90's and he delivered all of our 5 children. A great friend and an awesome doctor...a hardcase as well like me he had a passion for music and we attended the odd concert together...and I would visit him often at his residence to listen to music...RIP my friend

I had not realised he had gone until I read it in the RACS news. Inspirational surgeon dedicated to provincial New Zealand, a truly good man and a pleasure to have known as a senior colleague and friend. Belated farewell surgeon Peter.

RIP Peter. Thank you for bringing my boys safely into this world and for the kindness you showed us during some trying times. Bless you Gerry my thoughts are with you and the family.

So sad to hear of Peter's passing. Even though I was not blessed to have known Peter for a long time I had the pleasure of knowing and working with Gerry. You are an amazing lady. I first saw Peter face to face when we were both 51 and my wife Diane said, "I know you are cousins because you both have bird legs." The time visiting with him, his family and Pat brought back precious memories of my mother Alison. We are truly saddened to lose such a fine man. Love to all from South Carolina.

To Gerry and family

The memories have come flooding back.. the good times and the sad. We are glad we spoke not long ago to remember some of those memories. You have always been there for Ron and our wider family.

Jim and Anne will be there for Gerry if she needs a hand and we are only a couple of hours away.

Dear Gerry, so sad to hear about Pete. He was a great teacher and mentor when I was a student and young Doc, a somewhat scary dive buddy in my scuba days and an inspiration in what he achieved and gave to the people of Northland. I have always kept track of him via my Whangarei friends. Sincerest condolences to you and the family.

Peter operated on me twice at Kawakawa Hospital way back in 86 for breast cancer, never forget him dancing round the operating theatre to Tina Turners " Whats love got to do with it " ! Just made me laugh and I Admired him so much. Love and condolences to his family

You will always be one of my most favorite surgeon's to work with. And also a wonderful man. Your compassion for those around you (including my self during my illness) always shone through. You will be missed by so many and my sympathies go out to your family at this sadest of times. So sad too hear, he was a great person and doctor and my doctor when when i had cancer and i know he will be missed through hospitals and his patients and family and friends.

We will always remember him as our doctor in Moerewa it's been a long time since we last saw him but we will never forget him his kindness in how he cared for our family. Rest in peace with your son you are finally together and thank you for everything you did for the people of Moerewa and the wider communities.

Peter was my doctor when I had my appendix out il never forget the look on his face when I almost jumped off the table during the examination. Always kind and caring, it's been many years since we saw him last but he will always be remembered in our hearts he was such an integral part of the Moerewa community. RIP Dr Milsom a great warrior gone home to be with his son. Condolences to his family.
