I have many fond memories of working with Peter at the College of Education at Epsom. Peter had a brilliant mind, a true dedication to libraries and an inclusive and compassionate leadership style. He was respected by his staff, library colleagues and academics. I remember his wit and wicked sense of humour. My thoughts are with Peter's family.

Shock and sadness at Peter's untimely death. I had the pleasure to work with him recently and his courtesy, his focus on the best future for Unitec library services stand out. I would very much have liked to be there tomorrow to remember Peter in the company of his family, friends and colleagues. Aroha. Sue Sutherland

I enjoyed working with Peter, first at the Sylvia Ashton-Warner Library and then at Unitec Library. He had a great sense of humour and loved to share entertaining stories about his family. My thoughts are with them.

I have very happy memories of working for Peter at the library of the Auckland College of Education. Photos of Peter in 1978 working in the University of Auckland Library are online - access through http://www.library.auckland.ac.nz/databases/record/?record=HisoftheUniofAuc and search by his name.

Peter's contribution to education and to libraries specifically is huge and difficult to replace. It pales into insignificance with his contribution as a wonderful human being.

Dear Peter, a big thank you for leading me to the library field. I always remember your smiles in my two interviews. They gave me a lot of power and peace and made me brave enough to present a true me in front of you. You changed my life and made it much much better than it used to be. I feel really sorry that I didn't have many conversations with you when you were around, because of my lack of confidence. I will continue to work harder to bring new and practical technologies to the library, and won't let you down. Wish you resting in peace! We all Love and Miss you.
