A humble man and pastor to.his parishioners. Known him as priest and tennis player in Otahuhu and more recently at Hibiscus Coast Parish. He loved visiting his parishioners. Such a sincere man.

We remember with much affection Father Peter Gray while he was assistant priest at Our Lady Star of the Sea, Howick in the 1970's. He encouraged, by gentle persuasion, youngsters to form a music group with us, we had two guitarists, a banjo player, a drummer and singers. This started the revival of a youth group at Sunday evening masses. Fr Peter was a well known figure riding his bike on the streets of Howick visiting parishioners. A lovely man of God. Rest in Peace Peter.

Father Peter Gray is a distant cousin of our family. To my parent´s delight, he began his religious life as a Curate at their one and only home parish, St Patrick´s Panmure, circa 1959. He will return there to be buried, a superb bookend to a priestly life.
Besides his religious constancy, he was a good tennis player. He was so good at times that he never let the odd game get in the way of his parish duties - his Parish Priest thought otherwise and thereafter kept him on a short leash. It obviously paid off, and the Hibiscus Coast was the beneficiary.
Our sincerest sympathy to his family and friends. A life faithfully served.

A teacher not a preacher. You made the world a brighter, sunnier place with your humour and your gentle caring nature. Rest in peace with the Lord you served and shared with us with such devotion. Thank you for that gift, always in our hearts.

Father Peter was effectively the founding Parish Priest of Hibiscus Coast Parish of Orewa and Whangaparaoa as we know it today. His hard work and enthusiasm alongside his great caring nature for people and down to earth preaching and liturgy strengthened it. May this great, humble man now be receiving the heavenly rewards for his earthly goodness. RIP

Father Peter was calm and had a beautiful soul.
He will be always remembered by our whole family for his visits to our home, and generosity in having meetings in his Presbytery. We will miss him.
Sympathy to his family.

For a short time you became part of our life, when about 21 years ago, at St Mary's, Papakura you were Parish Priest and keen to get a Parish magazine started. Thats when we had just moved to Papakura and I got selected by the Parish Council as Editor. I have the fondest memories, times when you asked me to teach you basic computer skills, times when driving past our place, you would stop by to say hello and pick a few oranges from our tree or just join for a simple meal! You felt very much part of our family. Your warmth, your smile, I have never forgotton. May your soul rest in peace Amen.
