Peter GOULD Obituary

Peter supervised me as a medical student at Whangarei hospital. He was a role model in many ways and someone whose attitudes and skills as a doctor I have tried to emulate during my life. A great loss.

I just now learned of your passing when looking up your details to share. You saved me and my brother incredibly suffering as a child (and my mums sanity) and I was so grateful to be able to bring my own child to you. Upon reading here it seems your inter generation success and support was enjoyed by many. Thank you. May you Rest In Peace.

I had been a patient of Dr Gould for many years.
He was a wonderful Doctor and such an entertaining and colourful character. A visit to the surgery was something of a highlight and you knew you were in for a good laugh. I will always remember his vibrant taste in clothes, his candy striped jacket and the red Hugo Boss jacket. Fire engine red it was. He looked at me as he came into the examination room "Bright, eh?" was what he said with a laugh.
It sure was and only he could get away with it

This is to continue the message I left yesterday.. . .
It was such a shock to hear Peter had died, and I felt so heavy-hearted all day.
I forgot to add - what all who knew him know - that he was a first-class doctor. (And my mother and I were patients of his for over 30 years, not 20).
He was a friendly man, something of a performer, a warm person, and he made you feel that he liked you.
He fixed my various skin issues - fortunately I still have some ointment he prescribed, quite a concoction that takes the itch out of any skin problem. I will think of him as I continue to use it!
The last time I saw Peter in his rooms was sometime in 2016. His health was somewhat compromised and he was on medication. I was sad then to see his abundant and fun-loving vitality diminished. This was significant because he and I were almost the same age - I am now 75.
Above all, I have yet to tell my mother, Roberta Graham, who is 98 and in Lady Allum Rest Home. She went to Peter for years and admired him greatly, especially all his travels to overseas conferences!
I think that's all now, except to say that he was the opposite of boring - he's gone now and the world is greyer and more dull without him.

It is with sorrow that I learnt only today (27/02/20) that Dr Peter Gould died 16 months ago.
I was a patient of his over about 20 years, as my mother had been also. He was such a unique person, so full of life and always ready with a joke.

I first met Peter when I visited family back in 1999. I looked forward to seeing him when he would come to the UK for the British Academy of Dermatologists. I have a lot for great mem0ories of the time we spent together. One of the nicest men I have ever met and will miss him dearly. Steve at Brymill.

I remember visiting Dr Gould as a child with my mum, who was a patient of his at the time. He was one of the many inspirations that lead me to study medicine. Now, I'm a first year medical student.

I will never forget walking into your office and being graced with your wit, charm, kindness, and empathy as a doctor.

So very sorry to hear of Dr. Gould's passing. I had no idea he had passed He was one of a kind to say the least. The first time I met him we were at an NZDS meeting in Napier. He was wearing a zebra striped suit and lime green socks with Mickey Mouse on them. I knew then that we would be great friends. I always looked forward to visiting with him every year at the AAD meeting in the US. My condolences are with his family.

So shocked to hear of the passing of this truly wonderful man. I first meet Peter at Lister Hospital where I was his scrub nurse ,and enjoyed his wonderful sense of humour.. I have been a patient over the last 40 odd years,and have had so many laughs and stories it was always a fun visit when I went to see him. I will miss him terribly,where can we go to receive the excellent care Peter gave to all his patients you will be sadly missed love to all his family gone way to soon.

I have know Peter for more than 30 years. He was my dermatologist, client and friend. He was always such fun and so full of life. Very shocked and saddened by this news. We will miss our consultations (more like a catch up and imparting of life's lessons). We will never forget your Paris restaurant recommendation (as only someone like you would) and all the other trivia about the finer things in life, not to mention the humour you inject in our talks. No one can wear a suit and those shoes (and we have seen many) as well as you. Though we have only known you for nearly 2 years, your impact to our lives is great and it shows the personal investment you have made in our lives. With huge sadness we learned today that you are no longer with us, Peter.
I still recall vividly the drive home with
'Angie Baby', both of us feeling enormous relief that we had at last found a doctor who cared. You not only helped manage Angela's condition, but gave her hope and
restored her self esteem, spoke to her like she was important and made her laugh. As her Mum, I am forever grateful. Moving to a high altitude climate in America eventually
did the health trick. She was so sad to hear today that you have left so unexpectedly. Rest in Peace, Peter.
