Renal Unit
December 15, 2020
Dr Doak (he will always be Doctor, not Peter, to us) supported Northland Renal Services for many years. He travelled from Auckland on a monthly basis to see our patients for many years. Dr Doak made a huge difference to many lives and never looked for thanks. The patient seat in the renal clinic never got warm as he rapidly got through a vast amount of work. We will always be grateful
Best wishes

I first met Dr Doak as a 17-year-old patient with end stage renal failure in Ward 16 AH, in 1965. RIP my dear friend without you I would not be here. J. Crowther.

The early 70s as a young surgical registrar I would come into the theatre tearoom. The graveyard hours, 3 am and there would be Peter Doak. Waiting, waiting, never a complaint, his battered old thermos flask by his side with a new life therein. What a gift and given by a man whose unassuming manner belied an intellect, compassion an ethic and all the qualities that go to make a great human being.
You have my enduring respect Peter Doak.
Best wishes to your family.
